Living Out Our Calling

Pastor Matt spoke this morning from Psalm 119. Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible. It is an acrostic poem, meaning that every stanza begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Each stanza is eight verses. God’s law or what he has said or commanded is a theme that runs throughout the 176 verses of Psalm 119. Eight Hebrew words are repeated over and over again. The English translations of those words are law, statutes, precepts, commands, ordinances, decrees, word and promise. The passage that we looked at on Sunday was verses 33-40. This stanza is one of six that contain all eight of those repeated Hebrew words. None of the stanzas contain less than six of them. This is an incredible piece of writing any way you look at it.
